Let’s Get Cooking

Ingredients

Ingredients for One Batch

You’ll Need

  • Cutting board and sharp knife
  • Medium bowl
  • Fork or potato masher

Method

  1. Prepare the Avocados

Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Mash it with a fork or potato masher to your preferred consistency, chunky or smooth.

  2. Add Fresh Lime Juice

Add the measured lime juice for flavor and to slow browning. It will not prevent all browning.

  3. Mix in Fresh Veggies and Herbs

Add the chopped cilantro, diced onion, minced garlic, and diced tomato if using. Stir gently to combine.

  4. Season It Up

Sprinkle in the ground cumin, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

  5. Stir Gently

Fold everything together gently so the tomato and onion keep their shape.

  6. Serve Fresh

Serve immediately with gluten-free chips or fresh veggie sticks. For best flavor, enjoy within a few hours.

A Little Extra Guidance

Recipe Notes

Ingredient checks, storage, and food handling guidance.

Before You Cook

Lime can slow browning but does not prevent it indefinitely. Fresh lime juice has no label to check; if you use bottled juice, check its label. Chips and dipping vegetables are separate quantities.

Choosing Gluten-Free Ingredients

Check the exact products you buy, especially flour, oats, bread, pasta, sauces and broth. Gluten-free labeling and third-party certification are different. A recipe page or scanner cannot guarantee a dish’s preparation. Use clean equipment and protect ingredients from contact with gluten-containing foods. Gluten-free does not mean free of dairy, eggs, nuts or other allergens. See the FDA guide to gluten-free labels.

Food Handling and Leftovers

Use a food thermometer and the safe cooking temperature chart. Refrigerate perishable food within two hours, or one hour above 90°F, in shallow containers as appropriate. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below. Use refrigerated cooked leftovers within 3–4 days; reheat cooked leftovers to 165°F. See USDA leftover guidance.

Storage and Leftovers

Guacamole browns as it sits, even with lime juice. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours with plastic wrap pressed onto the surface and eat within a day; stir in or scrape off any browned layer before serving.
